We are the Local Environment Group for the area around Prestwood in Buckinghamshire, including Great Missenden,
The Hampdens, The Kingshills, North Dean and Speen
We aim to protect and enhance the quality of the natural environment through the involvement of local people.
The Pollinator-Friendly Garden at the allotment site off Greenlands Lane is now well established and has become a haven for many types of wildlife during the summer. An unusual feature is the “bug hotel” which has been constructed from some pallets, fancy bricks with holes in, tiles, logs, sticks and dried leaves. It provides an attractive site for insects of all sorts.
If you wish to learn more about novel ways to encourage wildlife in your garden, please refer to Buglife - Wildlife Gardening for some ideas.
The garden has a seat and is in a very peaceful spot so it is an ideal place to go and relax on a fine summer day.
The site is next to a public footpath and is conveniently close to the Community Orchard. Our thanks go to Great Missenden Parish Council for approving this project and giving us the go ahead.
